The 2012 “Conosci il tuo pasto” Guide to certified Restaurants
The Italian and Lebanese chefs that meet the Mediterranean agriculture

Beirut, March 12, 2012

Preceding the forthcoming publication of the 2012 Guide to “Conosci il Tuo Pasto” certified restaurants, which will be officially released in April in Senigallia (Ancona, Italy), a preview of the project will be presented to the press and the public in Beirut, Lebanon on March 22nd at HORECA, the International Exhibition of Hospitality and Food and Beverages Services industry under the patronage of y the Embassy of Italy in Beirut.

The Guide to “Conosci il tuo pasto” certified restaurants, that this year is going to be in Italian and English, is in its second year and it will include, in addition to Italian restaurants, the first Lebanese restaurants that have achieved the prestigious “certification with the cockerel”. Those restaurants are going to be presented to the press and the public during the event.

“Conosci il Tuo Pasto” is a project that involves restaurants and chefs who, in their preparations, have chosen to favour and enhance products that come from local agriculture, organic agriculture, products with designations of origin or those that come from the Mediterranean tradition, in order to give to consumers the connotation of transparency and traceability to their selections, which are guaranteed by the certifications issued by the Mediterranean Institute of Certification (IMC).

The certification issued by the Mediterranean Institute of Certification is an internationally accredited certification that assigns to restaurants one, two or three cockerels, depending on the type of the quality products selected by the restaurants. It also releases to restaurants one, two or three green leaves based on their environmental performance according to their food supply system.

The presence of Lebanese and Italian restaurants in the 2012 Guide is particularly significant thanks to the role and the consideration the Italian and Lebanese cuisine have had in the International context as Mediterranean cuisines.
